BEE - the good and the bad.
Hi all, in the past I used to own this stock for which I did plenty of research. I came to the conclusion that its fair price was around $4.50/$5.50 given the discounted rates at which similar hotels had been sold in the market. I bought in the low $1 and made a bundle.

But now I see the stock has stalled and am not sure whether this has become dead money now... Can anyone chime in and opine whether this is a good, sound investment? What about dividends? Are they coming soon? Bee is the symbol for Strategic Hotels run by Geller.

RE: BEE - the good and the bad.
Hey Ms. Jonas, welcome! BEE has some issues that may impair the stock for a while. Earlier this year, they announced in a press release that they could not give guidance and that the only thing they could gurarantee were 100 million in outlays for the year because of interest payments. Very low current cap rates aside -which helps BEE sustain a fair valuation- an investor should give serious thought to the following items on their balance sheet:

Senior Notes, Credit Facility, Preferred Out and Dividend Accrual which are all part of their debt structure. I personally feel there is little downside, although not much appreciation either until they have more pricing power. If it is of any help David Tepper from Appaloosa Management added to his position this last second quarter. About 18% more (180k shares). Here is the link

And here

you can see Paulson stake at 8 million shares. Wow, Paulson owns 66 million shares of BPOP. That is a bg bet.

Thank you for the links! That dataroma page is wonderful for cottailing. Too bad that it comes one quarter late. In this choppy environment by the time you cottail, money managers are already gone. Except for Buffett.
